Your backyard is like an outdoor room in your house. Elegant spaces can offer a real sense of privacy, or they can work nicely as a great entertainment area. Consider taking a few steps to improve the atmosphere. Let’s talk about courtyard pools.
If you are planning to have a courtyard, make sure you consider the orientation and entry points from your garden and your house. Multiple entries are a great idea.
As far as paving is concerned, make sure everything drains away from your house regardless of the material you want to use. You may want to find out ways to offer a partial canopy. Often times, this can be done by extending roof rafters over the courtyard.
If you have already built your home, create a plan to build a courtyard. You can design your courtyard so that it looks like there are four solid walls. You can go for a vine-covered hedge or trellis that should close in a small space. Or, if you want to add a great sense of closure, having a canopy open roof may also work. Regardless of the structure you opt for, make sure you allow plenty of light in the courtyard.
As far as the design is concerned, you can control the scale. If you want to make your space look spacious, you can choose not to have a roof. It is not a good idea to have too many chairs and tables on an open patio as it will make space look cluttered.
If you are going to select plants, consider the scale. As for as the design and horticulture are concerned, you may choose larger pots. Ideally, your Courtyard should have a view into it instead of out of it. Therefore, when you are designing your courtyard, look out the window. If the view is attractive enough, you can cut a window in the courtyard wall to frame it.
