#1 – Leg Lifts

Leg lifts in your pool are not as difficult as if you were doing it on land. The water takes some of the pull away from the exercise so you are able to do things you wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.

To do leg lifts all you have to do is go to the edge of the pool, put your arms out on the pool and begin to slowly light your legs from the bottom of the pool. Your feet should be together and your legs should be straight as they come up. This is going to work your core and tone your abs. It will also work your legs.

#2 – Pool Plank

There is a reason the plank challenge went viral – planking works! When you do the plank, your muscles are working overtime because it is so difficult to hold your body still for a long period of time. When you do it in the water, you are going to be able to do it.

Go out into the water with a pool noodle. Once you are out in the water allow your feet to start coming off the ground after you are holding onto the pool noodle. Keep your body as straight as possible for as long as possible and work your core.

#3 – One Leg Balance

Balance can be a challenge for many of us. When you are balancing in the pool, you have the water to help you, but it still works your muscles.

Start with both feet on the floor and slowly enter flamingo stance. Keep yourself balanced as long as possible to work your core.

#4 – Core & Ball

Bring your favorite ball into the pool to aid you in this next exercise. Go out in the water, take the ball and lift it up over your head. With your body still straight and the ball up in the air, lean to the right and bring back center then lean to the left and bring back center. This is a great core workout.

#5 – In Water Jumping Jacks

Jumping jacks can be high impact out of the water but when you add the water they can fit into the easy workouts category. If you need to modify further, you can do a step in between the jumping part of the Jumping Jacks and make the exercise even more low impact.
