Pool Style Guides – 7 Schools

Understanding pool style and how to make it work for you will allow you to get the best out of your pool. If you don’t look over all of the options, you may not see the design that you really want.

Zen Pool

Pools that are Asian inspired are often called Zen pools. They are meant to be a quiet and serene retreat where you can meditate and reflect. Think of natural rocks, plants and lighting that is set up to create a space that works beautifully for you.

Tropical Pool

Tropical pools are meant to look as if you are in the jungle. They are usually filled with boulders and waterfalls as well as having rain forest greenery around them. You should get a feel as if you are in a natural swimming hole.

Mediterranean Pool

The Mediterranean pool style usually looks like Tuscan themes and old word design. You are likely to see pergolas and lovely climbing vines.

Country Garden Pool

These pools are purposefully meant to be minimalist so they do not look cluttered. They have oversized coping stones and once you put some grass down, you will have all that you need.

Contemporary Pool

Modern as well as post-modern pools marry geometric designs along with luxury surfaces, stones and bold lighting to give it the dramatic effect. Many people get infinity designs with this pool style.

Western Pool

Pools with a western theme use desert tones, rocks and natural stones to blend with the surroundings. Plant some desert friendly plants and trees with colorful rocks and you’ve got a beautiful Western pool design.

Coastal Pool

There can be different types of coastal pools such as beaches, sea-life or nautical so that you can decorate according to your tastes. The hues are often muted and pale to match water and sand tones. You can add mosaic tile inlays if you have a concrete pool.
