At Home with Gisele and Tom
In the late 1990s, Gisele Bündchen was the first in a wave of Brazilian models to find international success, you may have seen her gracing the stage at the Victoria’s Secret annual runway extravaganza or promoting swimwear. Since 2004, Bündchen has been the highest-paid model in the world, and as of 2007 was the 16th richest woman in the entertainment industry! Oh and don’t forget she is married to Tom Brady, Quarterback for the New England Patriots.
At Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady’s Los Angeles home, an infinity pool has us drooling as it offers views of the city, with the Pacific Ocean in the distance. In case you are not familiar: An infinity pool is a swimming pool whose positioning gives the impression that it merges into the ocean or other surrounding landscape. By adding native plants, rock features, and a waterfall, this infinity pool looks like it could be part of the beautiful scenery. Also known as zero edge, vanishing edge, or negative edge pool; an infinity edge pool can transform even the least scenic landscape into a tropical oasis. There are reflecting pools that are primarily seen in resorts and are designed to produce a visual effect of water meeting the horizon, with edges that seem to vanish into space. In simpler terms, an infinity pool, when done right, can frighten people with the realistic look of a drop off or simply make your jaw drop in awe.
Check out their beautiful pool.
Offering epic views of the Pacific Ocean disappearing over the horizon, the infinity pool is laid out with two straight sides and one long edge that helps give the impression of a natural body of water. A deck made of reclaimed-oak planks projects into the water to add to the illusion.
Environmentally Responsible Celebs: Gisele and Tom
Bündchen and Brady agree that living also means remaining conscious of their environmental impact. At Premier Pools & Spas, we really respect that. Bündchen is a global ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program. Living in Southern California (drought central!), Gisele and Tom remained very aware of the issues California faces when it comes to conservation and natural resources. Here are some ways in which Gisele and Tom sustainably designed their home and backyard oasis.
- They made it a number one goal to use recycled components as much as possible.
- Gisele and Tom opted to only implement energy and water systems that would enhance the family’s impact on the land they reside on.
- They composted their waste during the process and continue to do so today.
- They used environmentally friendly construction materials.
- Gisele and Tom installed two very large rows of photovoltaic solar panels to meet ALL of the property’s electricity needs!
