Garfield in Phoenix
The sculpture of a Phoenix at Roosevelt and 13th streets states publicly “Garfield Rising.” However, you can also see flashes of bright plumage like artsy Alwun House, Co+Hoots coworking space, and Welcome Diner. And thanks to its nearness to Downtown, “the Eastlake-Garfield areas are perfectly located for getting cool,” states Reinvent PHX’s Katherine Coles.
The plan for Reinvent PHX district involves renovating vacant buildings, building student and mixed-use housing, painting buildings with colorful paint, cultivating a corner grocery store, and planting trees at Verde Park splashing. In the meantime, two upscale flat complexes, 11 Capital Place and 12 Capital Place, are anticipated to launch soon. In the next 24 months, many job-creating developments will be created; ASU’s Arizona Biosciences Partnership Building, ASU’s Arizona Center for Law and Society and U of A’s Cancer Center, may finally help Garfield progress. It is an investment that is long-term, but a great one.
