When you are looking at having a pool installed, you may have noticed there are some pool trends happening. Are they are going to keep happening or will people start to go more traditional again?

#1 – Smaller Pools

You may have noticed the pool trends are going toward smaller pools. Small pools are becoming more popular because you can fit them into just about any yard. People are learning that bigger isn’t always better. There is no need to take up the whole yard with a pool when you can get the same experience with a smaller pool and you can still have a yard.

Small pool aka “spools” are easier to maintain and they are also easier to install. This means that these small pools are going to cost less. While you may not use them to play sports like water volleyball or water tennis, you can still get your swimming and relaxation in. You can lounge by the water and know that there isn’t a big pool to watch over, especially if you have children in the pool.

#2 – Negative Edges

Negative edges are also known as vanishing edges. This isn’t only for fancy hotels anymore and negative edges are becoming more popular for backyard pools. When it comes to pool trends, this is one of the pool trends that is exploding north, south, east and west. This is done by shortening the pool’s wall on one side. The water then spills into the basion that is put in below the ground.

While this is popular, you should know that it is not cheap. When you have a great view, this is going to set the design off even more. If you do not have a big view in your backyard, you may not find the investment as rewarding.

#3 – Fiberglass Swimming Pools

Fiberglass swimming pools are faster to install since they come pre-made. The pool’s surface is smooth and there is little to no maintenance required. Nothing in fiberglass can alter water chemical composition and this means you do not need any chemicals for cleaning. You can pick the color as well as the design with fiberglass.
