California-based Premier Pools & Spas, the nation’s largest and fastest growing swimming pool company, has announced that their Central Valley office in Modesto has changed ownership. Formerly a franchise of Premier Franchise Management (PFM), franchisor of 35 Premier Pools & Spas locations nationwide and internationally, the Central Valley office is now owned and operated by one of the founding owners of Premier Pools & Spas, Keith Harbeck.

“We’ve been building pools for 28 years and our business has grown mainly by referrals from our customers. We are proud of our reputation and look forward to enhancing it in the Central Valley.”

Harbeck, along with Paul Porter, President and CEO of PFM, started Premier Pools & Spas in Sacramento in 1988. In 2010, Harbeck and Porter divided ownership with Harbeck remaining in the Sacramento location and Porter starting the licensing of the Premier Pools & Spas brand. Porter’s first licensees were the managers of the five remaining Premier Pools & Spas offices located in Vacaville, San Diego, and Modesto California, as well as offices in Phoenix and Las Vegas. In 2014, these licensees became franchisees of PFM, with the exception of Modesto.

When the Central Valley location became available, Harbeck, the owner of the Sacramento location and not a franchisee, saw the opportunity to expand his business down into the once-thriving pool building valley.

“We’ve had great success in the Central Valley in the past. It’s a healthy market again and the demand is there. We know that we can provide people a great pool building experience and that’s what they deserve. We’ve been building pools for 28 years and our business has grown mainly by referrals from our customers. We are proud of our reputation and look forward to enhancing it in the Central Valley”

Brandon Snyder, a former manager in the Sacramento location, was chosen by Harbeck to become the General Manager of the Central Valley office. Snyder had been in charge of the warranty and customer service department and had demonstrated to Harbeck that he possessed exceptional management and customer service skills, as well as an upbeat and driven personality.

We’re very confident that Brandon will excel in this position. It was very important that we chose the right person for this job. We know that there will be a few obstacles going back into that market but are confident that we can win back the trust of our customers and re-establish our good brand.”

Harbeck also said that all pools under the former Modesto management team have been completed. Harbeck and Porter completed many of the unfinished swimming pools left when a major Central Valley pool builder, Aqua Pool & Spa abruptly shut their doors in 2010.
