In a short simple answer, yes, temperature does affect your swimming pool. There are certain temperatures that you should be looking out for. If the temperature drops below 30 degrees it is important to always have your swimming pool pump running. A constant flow of water will protect the pipes and prevent freezing. If your pool pump isn’t circulating water, it can freeze and cause the pipes to crack or break, which is a pretty penny in the maintenance department.

Does Landscaping Affect my Swimming Pool?

If you have tress hanging over your swimming pool, we recommend putting a pool cover over your swimming pool. The leaves, dirt, branches, and debris that fall from the trees and land in your swimming pool can make it become dirty. The leaves and dirt can also effect the chemical balance of your swimming pool leaving it cloudy. This is something that can easily be avoided with a swimming pool cover.

Winterizing your swimming pool is not a requirement, but if you do choose to close your swimming pool up for the winter, here are some general steps to follow how to do so:

  • Brush, shock, and balance the pool chemicals. Add 10 ounces of algaecide for every 10,000 gallons of water.
  • Remove any debris from your swimming pool.
  • Let the pool chemicals run through the pool filter for 24 hours.
  • Drain water down as necessary.
  • Remove all plugs and water from pump and filter systems.
  • Put the Pool Cover down and make sure it is secure.
